My name is Joe Montiel. I was born and raised in Wichita, Kansas as one of six kids. I have a wife and a four year old son. I have always been the “camera guy” in my family because I wanted a photo of everything. I didn’t technically know what I was doing until a few years ago. What started out as a desire to take the best photos of my newborn son when I bought my first DSLR camera, quickly turned into a hobby that has since become my passion. I recently took my photography to the next level by incorporating as Love My Kansas, Inc.
During a snowfall I took my first designated photo trip to the Keeper of the Plains in Wichita a few years ago. Since then I have had a fascination with photography especially with my favorite Wichita landmark, the Keeper of the Plains. I love the never ending learning of photography. The amount of things that can be done with photos that I didn’t know about the day before continues amaze me. I have since expanded my photography goals from Wichita to all of Kansas. I love traveling the state and capturing the beauty of Kansas. I have spent multiple nights in the Flint Hills capturing a sunset, the stars, the Milky Way, sunrises, and wildlife. I love the excitement and challenge of hiking to an area in the dark to capture photos of bison at sunrise or the rise of the Milky Way. Photography lets me share my adventures with everyone.
I hope you enjoy my photos. Please contact me if you have any questions.
